Sightlife

Our speaker yesterday was Sonja Moore with Seattle-based Sightlife.  We thought Sonja had brought along 3D glasses for us to see her presentation.  Instead, these glasses helped us see what it's like to have corneal blindness...like staring into a thick fog.  Corneal blindness affects millions around the world and yet, it is a treatable condition.  In the U.S. corneal blindness is readily addressed thorough a corneal transplant.  Unfortunately, a lack of surgeons and transplant tissue keeps millions from seeing.  Sightlife's mission is to help address this by providing training and helping develop transplant tissue facilities where they are needed.  Sonja shared stories of those afflicted and those who have received a corneal transplant and the incredible life-changing impact it had on them.
